About Me
I take the work seriously without losing sight of the humanity in it. There's room for honesty, real conversation, and the occasional moment of levity so therapy feels less like an obligation and more like something worth showing up for.

I'm Megan Goldberg (she/her), a licensed therapist in DC, Maryland, Virginia, Illinois, and Massachusetts. I offer in-person therapy in Dupont Circle and telehealth therapy throughout DC, MD, VA, IL, and MA.
I became a therapist because I've always been curious about people, what they're going through, why it's happening, and what it would take for things to feel different. I bring that curiosity to every session.
I have ADHD which has shaped how I see the world, how I work, and how I understand what it feels like when your brain and your life aren't cooperating.

Outside the Office
I try to practice what I ask of clients and make time to relax. For me that means time outdoors, hiking, snowboarding, and camping, usually with my dog Ellie, whose greatest advice is that a tennis ball is the quickest way to find happiness.
I'm also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at George Washington University's School of Medicine, where I teach medical students psychosocial interviewing, communication, and empathy, with a focus on seeing the whole person rather than just the presenting symptoms.

Education and Background
I have a Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and am licensed as a clinical social worker in DC (LICSW #LC200004425), Maryland (LCSW-C #32747), Virginia (LCSW #0904019292), Illinois (LCSW #149031601), and Massachusetts (LICSW #LICSW1144075).
Before becoming a therapist, I spent years working in tech and navigating workplace pressures firsthand. That background shapes how I understand what my clients are up against at work and it keeps the therapy grounded in real world demands.
